• Amistà produces only one wine, an icon in its class, the Amistà Nizza DOCG, made from 100-percent estate grown Barbera grapes. • The newly created Nizza appellation is the “spiritual home” of Barbera d’Asti where some of its greatest wines have been grown and raised. • The focus on one wine has allowed the winemaker to craft a true benchmark for the appellation. • Although not certified, the winery uses Agriculture 4.0 farming practices in the vineyard. • Enologist Luca D’Attoma, known for his Midas touch, manages every aspect of production, from vineyard management to vinification and bottling. • Judicious use of oak cask aging gives the wine depth and complexity without imparting invasive wood flavors. • Soil types: The classic sandstone and limestone marl found throughout Monferrato, a UNESCO-designated wine growing region. • Amistà is the latest project by Michele Marsjai, co-owner of the Ottosoldi winery, a partnership with Stefano Moccagatta of Villa Sparina fame and producer of critically acclaimed Gavi.
Amistà is made from Barbera grapes that have been grown in the variety’s spiritual homeland, Nizza commune in Monferrato, and vinified with the leading enologists, Luca D’Attoma. This compelling, focused, and highly nuanced expression of Barbera is sure to become a benchmark for the newly created Nizza appellation.
